2008 Constitution Party Convention

In April, 2008, Dr. Future and show favorite Robert Heid traveled to Kansas City, MO to cover the 2008 Constitution Party Presidential Convention. Highlights included the Presidential nomination run of recent "Future Quake" show guest Dr. Chuck Baldwin, and the recent emergence of perennial Republican candidate Dr. Alan Keyes to contend for the nomination. It became clear during this procedure that real debate and contention for popular support would occur at this convention, unlike the "coronation" conventions with the Republicans and Democrats. "Third parties" like the Constitution Party, currently the third largest national party (after the Democrats and Republicans) with approximately 400,000 registered voters, offer serious issue positions rather than personality contests, and all citizens should serious consider support for them in 2008 and beyond!

Our show's trusty friend, guest and philosopher - Robert Heid (who has voted Constution Party since 1992!), who joined Dr. Future for this adventure in Missouri! The banner over the podium in the convention room reveals their party slogan - "Fighting for America's Future". And "fighters" they appeared to be - no "wimps" allowed, regarding strict Constitutional goverment! Check out their platform and other info at www.ConstitutionParty.com, and listen to the 29 April 08 "Future Quake" interview with Constitution Party Communications Director Mary Starrett!

Our recent show guest, Dr. Chuck Baldwin of Florida, had a strong following, who talked him into being willing to accept the Presidential nomination of the party, if so selected. Former Ambassador and Republican Presidential candidate Dr. Alan Keyes also made a dramatic entrance into the party and convention, having just formally left the Republican Party approximately a week prior to the Convention. He was now seeking the Presidential nomination of the Constitution Party, along with a large army of his supporters!

Military veteran "Mad Max" Riekse was one of the more colorful of the eight Presidential nominees that met all the nomination criteria and therefore subject for voting and consideration (and finished third in the voting, behind Baldwin and Keyes). He and all eight of his competitors made nomination speeches, answered questions, and were available for delegate votes during the voting process. A fair, open and equitable process made accessible to citizens, the way party conventions should be! An example of the discussions in the convention room amongst delegates, prior to the vote. Almost every state had a delegation, grouped by table, voting together as a bloc (with vote splitting allowed in most states).

Here's Constitution Party Communications Director Mary Starrett. Check out her visit on our show 29 April 08. She gave a great speech at the Convention, and has a unique story and experiences to tell (including running for Governor of Oregon) all her own! Kentucky Delgation Chairman Ed Parker, a friend of Robert Heid's and long-time supporter of the party, became a new friend of the Doctor.

The Doctor finally gets to meet newly-minted Presidential candidate Dr. Chuck Baldwin! Check out his prior visit on our show, and his acceptance speech in our 29 April 08 show about the Party. We hope to have the "stumping" Dr. Baldwin on during the '08 election cycle! Here's Dr Baldwin with my new friend, Gordon Clark, of Connecticut. I could not begin to tell you all the fascinating things this man is into; he is quite an intelligent "mover and shaker" that we hope to have on our show soon!

Constitution Party Presidential nominee Dr. Don Grundmann, who may also run for a Congressional seat in Congress. He challenged the delegates with many "uncomfortable questions" during his speech, regarding many issues we often discuss on our show, like the true facts behind the 911 attacks, the safety of our food, etc. We will plan to have him on our show in the future! Yours truly with former UN Ambassador Dr. Alan Keyes. He graciously made himself available for a one-on-one interview in his suite that went from 15 to 30 minutes, and is aired in its entirety on the 29 April 08 "Future Quake" show. I thanked him for his years of public service.

Another new friend - Ricardo Davis, Georgia delegation State Chairman. I heard him briefly speak, and knew I needed to meet him. We will also have him on the show soon! Near the end of the Convention, Dr. Baldwin accepts the nomination alongside Mary Starrett, and subsequently gives his acceptance speech.
