SCHOLAR DR. MICHAEL HEISER UNVEILS NEW “USER-FRIENDLY” ONLINE SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR ANCIENT BIBLICAL STUDIES AND THE PARANORMAL, ON THE 30 AUGUST – 3 SEPTEMBER 2010 “FUTURE QUAKE” RADIO PROGRAMS
Nashville, TN – Dr. Michael Heiser (www.michaelsheiser.com), academic editor for “Logos Bible Software” and “Bible Study Magazine”, reveals new initiatives he and his academic colleagues now have underway to provide an innovative means of structured learning for laymen in ancient Biblical texts and doctrines and paranormal topics, with host “Doctor Future” and co-host Tom Bionic, airing daily during the week of 30 August on the “Future Quake” program, broadcast on the Christian talk radio station WENO, 760 AM in Nashville, TN (and archived at http://www.futurequake.com). Dr. Heiser exhibits a unique set of credentials, including an M.A. in Ancient History from the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Ancient Israel and Egyptology, and an M.A. and Ph.D in Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages at the University of Wisconsin. He is also an author and frequent speaker at numerous conferences and symposia, as well as a regular guest on the nationally-syndicated “Coast to Coast AM with George Noory” as a recognized authoritative scholar on matters pertaining to ancient Middle Eastern cultures and their writings and beliefs, while serving as a competent defendant of Christian apologetics in the process. Most importantly, as a universally-recognized scholar in these fields, he has devoted much of his energies over the years to voluntary efforts to educate the Christian community, and inquiring and open-minded non-believers, as to responsible, honest means to evaluate issues of ancient cultures, writings and beliefs (in particular the Judeo-Christian narrative, history and evolution of belief), proper techniques of intellectual inquiry and discernment, and confronting contemporary issues of interest to the public that are uncomfortable to typical theologians, pastors and Christian leaders, and as a result has cultivated a large and loyal following online, via his many blog sites such as “The Naked Bible” and “Paleo-Babble”. This process has now led to a new, substantial undertaking by Dr. Heiser and his colleagues, including Dr. Judd Burton and Professor Johnny Cisneros, to offer serious, structured instruction, in a multi-media format, of topics related to ancient studies and Biblical Theology, and paranormal phenomena which are popular today. By using the latest tools now available online, such instruction can be provided economically (for tens of dollars), without the need for the time or expense of travel for localized learning, with reasonable commitments of time for the busy layperson (with minimal computer skills to boot) to hone their understandings of the faith, in an academically-defensible manner amongst the “shark-invested waters” of popular online and mass-media discourse.
