HISTORIC MOVIE PRODUCER TIM ORMOND DISCUSSES THE IMPACT AND LEGACY OF “GODSPLOITATION” CINEMA IN SOCIETY, ON THE 30 SEPTEMBER 2011 “FUTURE QUAKE” RADIO PROGRAM

Nashville, TN – Historic and unprecedented movie producer Tim Ormond, part of the landmark “Ormond Organization” movie-making empire, discusses his peerless historic Christian films such as “When Footmen Tire You” and “The Grim Reaper”, and the impact and legacy of cutting edge, “godsploitation” cinema in society, with host “Doctor Future” and co-host Tom Bionic, airing during the week of 30 September on the “Future Quake” program, archived at http://www.futurequake.com. Tim Ormond is the son of Ron and June Ormond, both icons in Hollywood and the entertainment industry – his mother having performed with Milton Berle and Bob Hope, his father a popular, traveling magician, and both managers of the “Three Stooges” road show. However, they are most famous for their unique, popular B-movie “exploitation” movies that brightened many a drive-in screen in the South and nationwide. Their family movie business was preceded by his father’s production of Westerns using stars such as Lash LaRue, and even producing the “Roller Derby” program. Their beloved cult films today include those such as “Mesa of the Lost Women”, and “The Monster and the Stripper”. Tim, the godson of famous actor Bela Lugosi, recounts the harrowing aircraft crash in Nashville that led to his family turning their unique talents to make unprecedented cinematic works for the Lord. The most famous of these is the peerless film, “If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do?”, produced in cooperation with Mississippi Baptist evangelist Estus Pirkle, which dramatized, in unforgettable fashion, the takeover of America by Communist armies, leading to widespread persecution and even execution of Christian congregations, shown in its gory reality on screen. This scandalous but effective film, made in a manner that could not be replicated forty years later, was followed with further provocative Ormond films, including “The Burning Hell”, “The Grim Reaper” and “The Second Coming”. Tim discusses vignettes and behind the scenes facts, including about participants like their “star” repertory player Cecil Scaife, known for his roles such as the drunken, lecherous murderer “The Commisar” in “Footmen”, and the New-Age inclined father in “The Grim Reaper”, who is best known in Nashville and worldwide as the promotions director for Sun Records and business advisor to Elvis Presley, and founder of the Belmont University School of Music Business. The show concludes with a discussion of a need for bold, daring Christian films today that push the boundaries, that could lead to a widespread public impact like the Ormond Films, which are estimated to have led a million or more people to come to Christ worldwide.
